Xmas in the air...Noel est dans les airs

We went to see some Xmas decorations in a town near ours. This is the results: they have collected things for years to get to that point. It covers about an acre, the people are present till nine at night with their costumes. It was really something to see. Enjoy the pictures.

Chili Feed
We had a nice advertisement at the bank in New Cambria. The weather was perfect to say the least: blue sky, no clouds, no wind.
We had a nice turn-out. We served 54 meals. The bake sale went fine and we had very good donations.
We had country music played during the meal by some generous musicians from Ethel and the surrounding areas.
Overall, we are very pleased for our first meal in Ethel.

Wednesday after meeting
Well, we had another 11 people present which means we had a total of 16 different persons assisting to any of them.
We are ready for our Chili Feed on October 17th. We're hoping 100+ persons.
The Ethel Christian Church gave as the basement to hold the Lunch at no cost: very nice of them.
We had our first unsolicited donation today also. Very good day over all.
We need your prayers though....thank you

Bye for Now and Happy Birthday to Gena!!!

We had an excellent trip to Michigan. The weather was beautiful, our visits went great. We found a lot of treasures in garage sales and thrift stores.
Nice to see some friends also while in Grand Heaven.
It was a very nice feeling to see the grand kids. Alex & Tanner are so bright, I better start learning my geography if I want to keep up with both of them. Masin is a speedy Gonzales. here he is, here he is gone.
It was also nice to come back home to our "menagerie". New babies rabbits (12), new baby ducks (5) now all gone. Lots and lots of tomatoes, green peppers and finally bird's gourds.
We did some apple sauce , apple jelly, wild sand plum jelly.
We had a couple a meetings regarding our goal to open a Community Center & Grocery Store. The Amish settlement are enthusiastic about it and can't wait to see it happening.
This coming Wednesday, we have another meeting but this time at the City Hall, we've out grow our house.
2 offers of 2 different houses in great despair of renovations, 4 lots to build a pole barn.................but no founds yet to proceed .
Saturday afternoon we were invited to a Blue Grass jamboree....great time 11 musicians (old timers) with guitars, violins....
And best of all, Nick had accepted to take square dancing classes....Youppie...this coming Thursday night.
As you see, life goes on and we work harder than when we were working ( lol)

Caning is almost over...Les conserves sont presque terminees

We have been busy caning green beans, tomatoes, dills pickles, carrots, spaghetti sauce, chili, pears, peaches, rasberry and blackberry jelly, pear jelly, english plum jelly, wild sand plum jelly and jam....etc... Apples will be next. This morning as I was picking tomatoes the sun came out and it was a beautiful scene. I did take a picture but it doesn't gave credit to the real sunrise. You will see some tomatoes bigger than my hand, with some regular ones.....quite amazing we think.
...........................................................

Peaches & Nectarines

Remember the Nick's peach tree with 5 peaches on?? Well they are gone Monday.....disappeared ......................Seeds were on the ground.
Tuesday morning, the nectarine tree was empty I mean cleaned up.......................and there was 107 nectarine seeds around the tree on the ground....................wow!!! they were almost ready..........so Tuesday night we installed 2 traps & Nick camped out for awhile , saw a raccoon going back to the creek and something else coming from the pasture.....but it was dark & went back to bed.
What a surprise when I went feed the animals in the morning to see a mother opossum sitting quietly by the tree. She had a leg in a trap & the tail in the other. She had 8 babies in her pouch. She was ready to climb in the other peach tree & have a blast. Bummer for her.
Now we are set waiting for the coon or Mr Possum who knows, hopefully we will keep our 7 peaches left & the apples.........................to be continued.

Insect bites???? Piqures d'insectes???

This week we had a nice visit from Omaha, my good friend Julie...it was nice to see her although her stay was very short. Like Nick says we have our private hairdresser coming to our house to clean cut us....Thank you again Julie.Nick has strange bites on his feet and back , it did not look good and he finally gave in and went to Columbia VA Hospital where we were told it was insect bites. 10 days of antibiotics and all should get back to normal.
Right now we are trying to finish installing all kitchen cabinets so we can move the furniture back from Omaha on monday........YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait.....7 months is a loooong time with just a table 2 chairs and an air mattress.
-------------------------------------------------------
