Here we are on Sunday night

Labor day week-end....should be a good thing....

Well, we had no plans for this week-end but our fridge decided for us what to do. The water supply for the ice maker had a loose and was running under the tiles. So must of the tiles were flooded and we are replacing the entire flooring....Yak!! I did not know Labor Day was meant to work......I am still learning.

C'est la fin de semaine du travail et nous n'avions aucun plan pour mais le frigidaire a decide pour nous. Le conduit d'eau pour la glace a fait defaut et l'eau s'est infiltree sous la ceramique et a inonde la plupart......Donc nous devons refaire le plancher a la grandeur. Yak!! Je ne savais pas que la fin de semaine du travail etait faite pour travailler....J'apprends chaque jour....

Monday 25th.....Lundi 25 Aout

We did not sale anything during the garage sale. That's okay.We had a nice week-end overall. Yesterday we went to see a fire prevention and drills presentation at a steak house. The meal: salad prime rib and baked potato was delicious and free. Then we watch the Olympics closing.
This morning we are ready to attack this coming week.

Pas de vente pendant la vente de garage mais c'est bien comme ca. Nous avons passe une belle fin de semaine. Hier nous avons assiste a une presentation sur la prevention des feux et que faire en ces cas la dans un steak house. Le repas: salade, prime rib et patate au four etait delicieux et gratuit. En soiree nous avons regarde la cloture des Jeux Olympiques.

I can not believe there is already 38 years I gave birth to that kid. But yes!! I am still a young mother (smile).
Our first week-end together Nick and I , we'll have to get accustomed because there is many more to come. Great garage sale in our neighborhood so we ave the opportunity to put our kitchen cabinets out an we will see what is going to happen. Beautiful day, 74 degrees sunny and a slight breeze.

J'ai de la misere a croire qu'il y a deja 38 ans que j'ai accouche de mon fils. Mais oui!! Je suis tout de meme une jeune femme (sourire).
Notre premiere fin de semaine Nick et moi, il va falloir s'y habitue car il y en a beaucoup plus a venir. Grande vente de garage dans le quartier, nous en avons profite pour sortir nos armoires de cuisine et nous verrons se qui va arriver.
Belle journee 24 degres, ensoleille avec une legere brise.

When we came back I had a letter offering to come in Friday August 15Th to help set up the room with the teacher in exchange of October 23rd which will give me a 4 days week-end with Nick also.
I had a agreeable surprise when I was told I would be in Room 8. The teacher has 29 years of experience, she is structured, she has a plan for every day ready till the end of the year.
First day went better than I thought regarding the facts I haven't work with these kids. It is a little different because some of them needs to let down during the day and I need to learn the techniques on how to do so.
The kids are great and I've already gain some hearts with my french songs (I guess I am not a bad singer after all).
The 2 others paras are good people who love the kids and pull their weights. What a change for me: everyone does its job. It's a relief I just have to do mine, all is good it is a blessing.
Nick loves his route, his aide is a great person. He haul one of my kid and I get to see him twice a day.

A notre retour, j'avais une lettre demandant si je pouvais entrer le 15 pour aider a placer la classe avec le professeur en echange du 23 Octobre ce qui me donne un week-end de 4 jours comme Nick. Ben oui!!
Agreable surprise quand j'ai appris que j'etais dorenavant dans la classe 8. Le prof a 29 ans d'experience, est structuree et a un plan d'attaque jusqu'a la fin de l'annee.
La premiere journee s'est bien deroulee malgre le fait que je ne connaissais pas les enfants. C'est un peu different par le fait qu'il y en a qui doivent s'allonger durant le jour et je dois appendre les techniques.
Les enfants sont plaisants et j'ai deja gagne des coeurs avec mes chansons en francais (je ne dois pas etre une si mauvaise chanteuse malgre tout).
Les 2 autres aides sont de bonnes personnes qui aiment les enfants et font leur part. Quelle difference pour moi: tout le monde fait SON travail. C'est un soulagement car je n'ai qu'a m'ocuper de mes 2 enfants attitres. C'est une benediction.
Nick aime sa route, son aide est une bonne personne. Il amene une de mes enfants et donc je le vois 2 fois par jour.

We are so very happy. Nick got his route and he gets the JP Lord one which is the school I work at. It has 5 kids, no wheelchairs. We are blessed. He will go tomorrow to do the route and meet the parents. And then the big day MONDAY.

Nous sommes tellement contents. Nick a eu sa route et c'est celle de J P LPord celle a laquelle je travaille. Il a 5 enfants et pas de chaise roulante. Une vraie benediction. Il va aller demain pour connaitre le trajet et rencontrer les parents. Et puis LUNDI le jour J.

De retour au bercail bien apprecie. Nick a fait son orientation hier et retourne demain pour connaitre sa route. Je commence vendredi au lieu de lundi pour aider le professeur a preparer la classe.

Back home sweet home. Nick went for his orientation yesterday and goes back tomorrow for his route. I will start Friday instead of Monday to help the teacher setting up the classroom.
The flowers are dead but the tomatoes red and juicy.

Pierre is the owner of the Buffet where we worked in 2005. I started in 1983 . We know each others for 28 years now and besides our ups and downs our friendship always survived. He has a huge heart and like to please everyone he likes. We stayed at his condo during our stay in Quebec. He made sure the fridge was full of food and specials delicacies that I love ( french bread, pates and cheese). . He is a sweetheart. There is only one like him. Thank you Pierre

Pierre proprietaire du buffet Amie Joie pour lequel nous avons travaille en 2005. J'ai commence avec lui en 1983. Nous nous connaissons depuis 28 ans et malgre nos hauts et nos bas notre amitie survit toujours. Il a un coeur en or et essaie toujours de faire plaisir aux personnes qu'il aime. Nous etions heberges dans son condo durant notre visite au Quebec. Il s'est assure que le frigo soit bien rempli avec les specialites que j'adore (pain croute, pates et fromage). Il n'y a en qu'un comme lui. C'est un amour. Merci Pierre

Friendship is priceless. Yvan and Denise are the only family members who kept in contact with me over the years after my divorce with my kid's father. I owed them a lot.

Je leur dois beaucoup Pierrette and I were best friends, raised our 4 kids, visited in a regular basis but lost each others for the last 23 years. I was thrilled to find her .

Pierrette et moi etaient les meilleures amies, nous avons eleves nos 4 enfants, nous nous voyions sur une base reguliere. Nous nous sommes perdues de vue depuis 23 ans. J'ai ete enchantee de la retrouver.

Voisins de 1976 a 1989 Francine et Yvon n'ont jamais portes de jugement envers moi a travers mes peripethies de vie. Nous avons developpes une tres forte amitie a l'epreuve de tout. Distance n'est pas un obstacle.

L'amitie se cache n'importe ou. Helene et moi nous sommes connus a la banque ou elle travaille. Nous nous sommes decouvertes beaucoup de points communs dans nos vies et sommes amies depuis 1998 je crois. Son mari Gaetan est un amour.

Grand Rapids Michigan

We had dinner at a restaurant and Tanner and I had fun. We laughed , made faces but ate all of the meal. Nick was seated by Alex and them too had a blast.
As we walked out Alex was ahead of us but then he turned around, run to me and said : "I love you Grand Ma". He made my day. I had tears in my eyes. Which one is the most proud??

They were ready to go camping and it seemed to be a treat for these young boys. I can't wait to see their blog and pictures. Jimmy Amy Nick Alex & Tanner.

In our last stop in Michigan we visit the Wooden family. We saw Alex & Tanner first and they welcomed us with smiles and "Hi Grand Pa Wooden & Grand Ma Wooden". They are so grownup now and no longer babies, they are young boys full of energy. We had a blast with them. We finished with a :"Grand Ma Nadine & Grand Pa Nick" from Omaha Nebraska. I still have a smile in my face as I write down.

Grand son Masin is full of energy and well behave. Except he tells the truth. Masin and I were shopping for a shirt for myself. He was playing hide and find with me then all of a sudden he asked me seriously: How old are you Grand Ma? I told him "a lot of years" but my answer did not satisfied him. After a few request I answered in his ear: 58. And then I heard his very very loud voice saying: 58 Grand Ma that's old!!!!! All the ladies shopping at that time were laughing trying to avoid to look at me.

Don't we say Truth comes out of the kid's mouth???

We had a great time with Mom & Dad. Dad lost weight and Mom looked younger. The operation for Dad's thumb went well and only time will settle the pain and discomfort.

Michigan

We are now in Branch seeing Mom & Dad & Sis. It took us 2 1/2 hours to go for 18 miles through Toronto on rush hour and heavy rain. We got through the border at sunset and the rain disappeared. We will go to Holland Thursday and Grand Rapids on Saturday to see all the grand kids. We can't wait seeing them all.

Nous sommes a Branch Michigan maintenant voir les beaux parents et la petite soeur a Nick. Il nous a fallu 2 1/2 heures pour parcourir 26km dans le temps du retour du travail et a travers la pluie qui tombe en trombe. Nous irons a Holland Jeudi et Samedi a Grand Rapids voir les petits enfants. Nous avons hate de tous les voir.

Yesterday we spent the day with Andy. We had a great time he is a sweetheart. He started to speak some words in English so Pappy could understand him. Funny. Nick did the same in French. We had dinner with another couple of friends. We went to a chinese buffet... Yum Yum!!!

Hier nous avons passe la journee avec Andy. Nous avons eu du bon temps, cet enfant la est un amour. Il a appris quelques mots dèanglais pour que le Pappy le comprenne et nick a fait la meme chose en francais. Nous avons soupe avec un couple d'amis au buffet d'un resto chinois...Miam miam!!

We saw the girls and Andy yesterday, everybody was happy and in good shape. Nick played with Andy both in their own languages , this was funny to watch. Today we are going to the carnival with Andy and we'll have dinner with some friends tonight.

Alright: On Sunday we saw Frederick the oldest son, I was thrilled to see him so was he.
Yesterday we went to see Philippe and the twins Kate & Ty. We had a great time and the kids were happy to see us & play with their Pappy who lives far far away.
Tonight we are visiting the girls: Veronique the youngest & Nathalie the oldest girl with Andy (6 1/2 years old). Can't wait to see them all. I will post some pictures on our way back.

Bon: Dimanche nous avons vu Frederick l'aine des gars, j'étais contente de le revoir. Hier nous avons vu Philippe & les jumeaux: Kate & Ty. Nous avons eu du bon temps et les petitous etaient contents de nous voir et de jouer avec leur "Pappy" qui habite tres tres loin.
Ce soir nous allons chez les filles Veronique la derniere et Nathalie l'ainee avec Andy 6 1/2 ans. Je suis impatiente de les voir tous. Je mettrais des photos a mon retour de voyage.
